Concert Band offers students the chance to grow as musicians in a supportive, ensemble-based setting. Members study a diverse range of repertoire spanning classical, contemporary, and popular styles, building technical skill and musicality alongside peers who share their passion for music.
Beyond performance, students develop discipline, collaboration, and confidence — skills that serve them well both on stage and beyond.

Participation
As with all BVSD high schools, all students enrolled in band (concert/jazz/percussion) participate in the Marching Band unless a student plays a Fall Monarch sport that conflicts with the band schedule. The musicianship, ensemble work, community building, and discipline developed in marching band translates to the high level of performance in the Concert and Jazz Bands. If you have any questions, please contact the Director of Bands, Tyler Vandermeer.
Upcoming Concerts
Parents and students should consider private lessons to supplement in-class instruction and improve musicianship. The more students we have in private lessons, the better the program will be.
Do you need help finding a private teacher? Please contact Director of Bands, Tyler Vandermeer.
Colorado Band Masters Regional and State Festivals
In 2023, both Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble had excellent performances at concert band festivals.
Symphonic Band came within a few points of the cut off to attend the State Festival.
Wind Ensemble received a Superior rating at the Regional Festival, and went on to receive a Superior With Distinction rating at the State Festival!

Honor Band Recognition
Every year, Monarch musicians take part of All-State Band and/or CU Honor Band. Congratulations to these Monarch Band musicians who achieved placement in area ensembles based on application and/or audition!
