Monarch Families -

Tag Day is right around the corner. Here is some information for families and students as to what to expect on the big day. And, a huge thank you to everyone that has already volunteered!

Tag Day: Saturday, August 15th

We still need help! Here’s how you can support:

We need one Money Counter volunteer from 3 - 5 pm. Sign up here!

Lunch this year will be held at Monarch. To help the students relax after all their hard work, we would like to have yard games (eg - Cornhole) available so they can have some fun! We are looking for people to lend yard games for the day as well as a small kiddie pool. Please see this sign-up if you have an item we can borrow.

What is it?

Tag Day is the single largest fundraising day for the Monarch Marching Band. Students will wear their marching uniforms and go door-to-door through neighborhoods in Louisville and Superior to ask for donations. They will have door hangers (“Tags”) to give to neighbors or hang on their front door. There are approximately 25 zones that are solicited. We will normally bring in close to $25,000 from just the door-to-door solicitation in cash and checks. We will bring in another $8000 to $10,000 through on-line donations through the Monarch Band Website and Colorado Gives portal.

When is it?

Saturday August 15, 2026. We start at 8:00 a.m., students should be there starting at 7:45 a.m.

Where is it?

We start at Monarch High School. Volunteer parent drivers will drive students in groups of 4-6 to their assigned neighborhood.

What should my student wear?

Students should wear a light layer of clothing. They will be putting on their uniforms so that will add to the heat. WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES. They will not be soliciting in their marching shoes.

What about food?

We are NOT providing breakfast to the students. They should eat at home. Snacks are also suggested because they will need energy throughout the day. We DO provide lunch at Monarch in the early afternoon. We provide special diets such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, and dairy free. The kids will have time to hang out and have some fun!

When does it end?

We try to wrap up all routes by late-afternoon.

Safety tips?

Students will solicit in groups of two or more at all times. Students are instructed NEVER to go into a house, even if invited. The parent drivers will have the students in sight or will be nearby in case of an emergency. Please have students bring WATER and SUNSCREEN.

**Notes for Students**

This is a fun event! Have fun talking to neighbors and folks you encounter. If you knock on a door and there is no answer, leave a tag for them on the front door. Please offer a tag to everyone who answers their door and remind them the website is a great place to donate because it is through Colorado Gives. If a house has a no soliciting sign, don’t leave a tag or approach the door. In Superior, there is a list of residences attached to your maps who don’t want to be solicited. Please make sure you don’t go to those homes. Your excitement about the marching program should be evident. That is what encourages folks to donate!

What do we raise money for?

Tell neighbors that the Marching Band is a self funded program and is not funded by the schools. That means we have to raise money for everything: uniforms, the extra instructors, transportation to events, entrance fees, food, etc. Also tell them their donations help reduce the fee you have to pay to participate in the program.

What if my student is ill?

Please text Shannon Scholtes 970-231-0350 if your student is sick or has an emergency that will affect their participation.
