We currently have openings for a few Parents/Guardians interested in being Parent Chaperones for the 2026 Marching Band season. Chaperoning is a fun and rewarding way for you to be involved in supporting the Monarch Marching Band Program, and gives you a true behind-the-scenes look at what a festival day is like for our students.
ROLE:
Parent Chaperones work under the direction of our Band Director and Band Staff
Chaperones are needed for each festival, and you may sign up on a festival-by-festival basis (single event sign-up, but more are encouraged!)
Chaperones supervise students for the duration of an event/festival day– including bus transportation to/from events, warm-up areas, on-deck/pre-show preparation, postperformance, and bus transportation home.
Festival days involve a lot of walking and standing outside with many hours on your feet, potentially in very hot or cold weather.
Chaperones hydrate students, provide basic health/first aid care, plume shakos, support uniform needs, distribute bus snacks, perform head counts, and assist with any other student needs.
Bus transportation to and from events is likely, but not guaranteed. We try to fit all designated chaperones on our buses, but some may be asked to drive their own vehicles if space is limited.
Chaperones attend festival events free of charge (unless noted)
REQUIREMENTS:
All Parent Chaperones are required to have a current BVSD Fingerprint Clearance (cost is approx. $70 to attain) and a 2026 Volunteer Agreement Form.
Interested parents are encouraged to start the fingerprint and volunteer clearance process as soon as possible. Cat and Brooke will send detailed information on each step of the process and provide assistance along the way, if you need it.
All costs incurred to fulfill your BVSD fingerprint requirement are the responsibility of the parent.
Sign-ups will open only when clearance through BVSD has been approved by our BVSD representative.
If you have fingerprint clearance through another organization, this will not apply toward your BVSD volunteer clearance.
CATEGORIES:
Chaperones assist in 3 areas, The sign-up allows you to select which area you would like to chaperone:
Marching Band (Brass/Woodwinds)
Color Guard
Percussion (Battery/Front Ensemble).
Alternates are also needed in case a designated chaperone is unable to attend.
