Do you still visit the Monarch Bands website every time you just want to check the calendar? STOP! There’s a MUCH easier way. You can subscribe to the band calendar on your phone or computer and easily see it anytime as part of your calendar app. Yes, it is so convenient to have the band calendar right there in your calendar app and you can toggle it on or off at any time. You want this feature, trust me.
Apple iPhone
Copy this URL: webcal://monarchbands.org/_functions/calendarFeed/All
On your iPhone open your Calendar to see what it looks like before we begin.
Click the calendars icon in the bottom right to show all the different calendars you are connected to. You may or may not have any Subscribed Calendars yet.
Open the Settings app
Browse to the bottom of that list and select Apps
Then tap on the settings for the Calendar app.
Tap on "Calendar accounts", then tap "Add Account"
We want to select the “Add Other Account…” option
Tap" Subscribed Calendar"
Now paste in that URL we copied a few moments ago.
Continue to finish adding the calendar.
It may take a few moments to sync all the events.
Now, when we open up our calendar and click on the calendars icon we can see the Monarch Bands - All calendar listed.
You can easily toggle it on or off as needed.
Google Calendar / Android
For Android users, your calendar is integrated with Google. The way to get it to show up on your phone is to configure it inside the Google Calendar website.
Copy this URL: webcal://monarchbands.org/_functions/calendarFeed/All
Now visit Google’s calendar at https://calendar.google.com
On the left look for “Other Calendars” and click the PLUS next to it.
Select “From URL”
Paste in the URL you copied a moment ago and click “Add Calendar”
Click back to go to your calendar and we can now see the Monarch Bands - All calendar is added.
It takes a few moments for all the events to populate.
You can now easily toggle it on or off anytime.
If you’re an Android Phone owner you can now proceed to configure this really easily on your phone.
Open the Calendar app
Tap the hamburger icon in the top left, and select Settings.
Tap "Show More" to see all the available calendars in your account (which includes the calendar we added in the above section)
Tap the “Monarch Bands - All”
Tap to turn on Sync for this calendar.
Can I recommend the color “Mango” which is pretty close to the Monarch colors.
Click back a few times to get back to your calendar.
It takes a few moments for all the events to populate.
At any time you can easily turn them on or off by tapping the hamburger icon, and deselecting the Monarch Bands - All calendar.
Apple Calendar
If you have a Mac and use the Apple Calendar, the process is surprisingly simple.
Copy this URL: webcal://monarchbands.org/_functions/calendarFeed/All
Open the Calendar app.
Under the File menu select “New Calendar Subscription…”
Paste in the calendar URL you copied above and click Subscribe.
You can name it anything you want, the default is Monarch Bands - All
We suggest changing the Auto-refresh to every day at least, every hour is best.
You’ll now have the calendar listed on the left which can be easily toggled on or off.
Outlook 365
Visit the Monarch Bands calendar, and click the Subscribe tab. There you will see a URL. You’ll need to copy this.
Inside Outlook, click your Calendar icon.
Click “Add Calendar”
Click “Subscribe from Web”
Paste in the URL
Give it the name “Monarch Bands - All”
Set the color, and set an icon, like music notes.
Click “Import”
If you’ve never used multiple calendars in Outlook you can choose to see them split, or unclick the “Split View” option so that they appear together on the same screen.
Power-Users
Our calendar system is pretty robust and we’ve customized it so you can see more granularity, if you want to. If you’re a tech-savy power-user, you can subscribe to different calendar feeds so you can turn them on or off individually!
Do NOT subscribe to the “All” calendar...
instead, subscribe to these four individual calendars:
Concerts - webcal://monarchbands.org/_functions/calendarFeed/Concerts
Volunteers - webcal://monarchbands.org/_functions/calendarFeed/Volunteers
Practices - webcal://monarchbands.org/_functions/calendarFeed/Practices
Boosters - webcal://monarchbands.org/_functions/calendarFeed/Boosters
You’ll use the same subscribe process that I described above for your system and add all four of those URLs. That will give you the ability to turn each category on or off individually.
Wrap-Up
Once you have the calendar added to your phone or computer, you will always have access to all the latest events. Every event has a link that takes you to the website for more details so you can buy tickets, volunteer or RSVP for something.
That’s all. Please let me know if you have any questions or problems by emailing webmaster@monarchbands.org Sko Yotes!
